The Ultimate Antarctic Turducken
Happy Thanksgiving!
With the holiday season upon us, we’ve had some conversations lately on what would make the ultimate Turducken, made with Antarctic animals. Some of the suggestions:
- Emperor Penguin, Adelie Penguin, Skua
- Weddell Seal, Penguin, Skua
and my favorite:
-Orca, Weddell Seal, Penguin. Maybe with a skua for decoration.
Our holiday meal is on Saturday, but I’ll be thinking about everyone eating good home-cookin’ tomorrow! Especially the sweet potatoes!! I think our dinner will be great - we’re having turkey of course, and prime rib, and all of the usual favorite things.
Also, the mail is finally moving. I think my second package, sent about a month ago, got here today.
Oooh, first comment, I feel special! Of course that’s because I couldn’t sleep because I was dreaming about this game I’ve been playing and wanted to wake up and get some hours in before Lisa woke up. Then it’s time for that turkey (don’t know how to spell triptophene) coma later today.

Mom’s in the kitchen getting ready for the Devers, Cannons, Jim & Stella. I think she is lacing the sweet potatoes with extra Jim Beam this year so I’m excited! About 16 degress here and we got a few inches of snow yesterday. I’ll be at Wal Mart tomorrow morning at 4:30 AM so the Subway can be open for all the door busters that hit at 5 AM. Oh, well, that’s retail.

Looks like I was premature about thinking the package mail was moving…turns out the mail was the letter and big envelope Mom sent less than two weeks ago…still no sign of the boxes. But if anyone wants to send cards, we know now they’ll get through!!

I just can’t see skuas without remembering the food web labs we used to run in oceanography in LA … guess which lectures I’ve been working on this week? Perfect timing for the holiday, eh? Somehow I get the feeling penguin would taste a little fishy though. (Niki doesn’t seem to care - he wants some!)
Good news about the mail - just don’t let them deliver it in tread-trucks!
I’ve got an interview talk to put together here over the weekend - fun fun fun. Snow forecast for the evening, but they’ve all been wrong so far this fall …
